Hello! I’m Thalia, an English teacher-in-training at Hogeschool Utrecht with a passion for helping kids and teens succeed in English. I’m working towards teaching in secondary schools, but I also enjoy supporting students one-on-one to help them feel more confident in their reading, writing, and speaking. Although I’m new to formal tutoring, my studies, teaching practice at my internship, and years in people-focused roles have taught me how to explain concepts clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and create a supportive environment where students can ask questions without feeling embarrassed. I believe mistakes are an important part of learning — and I encourage students to see them as progress, not failure.
In our sessions, I tailor activities and explanations to the student’s pace and needs, focusing on the areas that will make the biggest difference for them. My aim is for each lesson to be engaging, practical, and relevant to real-life use of English. Outside of my studies, I love walking my rescue dog Eyevy, reading, and working on creative projects. I also have a passion for languages and cultural exchange, which I often bring into my teaching to make lessons more interesting and relatable. Whether your child needs help catching up, preparing for exams, or simply feeling more comfortable using English, I’ll bring patience, encouragement, and a genuine interest in their progress.
